Ottawa Secrets is a fully improvised show, where we use true, anonymously-submitted secrets, (maybe yours) to inspire improvised stories, which are brought to life by a cast of actors. We are honored to be the curators of your secrets, and treat each secret with respect and light-hearted reverence. Because our inspirations come from real details of your lives, our shows reflect the full range of joys and sorrows, triumphs and failures, and above all, humor of the human experience.

Ottawa Secrets was inspired by Austin Secrets, a show created by our friend, Roy Janik at The Hideout Theater in Austin, Texas. Like StoryCorps, PostSecret, Mortified, and This American Life, Ottawa Secrets uses real people's experience to reveal human truths and celebrate everyday lives.

Are these just secrets about Ottawa?

Not at all! This show has secrets *submitted* by Ottawans as well as people from all over the globe! (We just call it Ottawa Secrets because we’re based in Ottawa). In fact, we can’t promise that anything about Ottawa will be in this show. It is improv, after all.

What is the age-range?

All of our shows skew PG-13, and our theater is all-ages (no one is denied entry based on age). That said, this is a show with more mature subject matter best enjoyed by patrons 14 and up.
