For improvisers who want to learn useful stage performance skills.
Course Description
Over 3 weeks, learn valuable skills to improve your stage performance from 3 different instructors. All workshops are 2.5 hours. Vocal Techniques for Improv (Dec 6) Instructor: Rich Hilborn Work through a series of exercises designed to help improve your vocal technique. Learn how to project your voice safely and effectively, enunciate clearly, and inject inflection and punctuation into your words. Acting for Improvisers (Dec 13) Instructor: Jinesea Lewis Dive into the transformative methods of acting teachers Meisner, Stanislavsky, and Hagen. This workshop is designed to help you harness these powerful techniques to build rich, dynamic characters that captivate audiences. Building Meaningful Stage Pictures (Dec 20) Instructor: Peter Rogers Break out of the improv semicircle! This workshop will give you the tools you need to improvise dynamic and engaging stage pictures. Make story choices inspired by your stage picture. Make stage pictures that support your story. Make scenes that the audience won’t dare look away from! Registration notes Two $5 access tickets are available for the series. These places are intended for members of the Ottawa improv community who are in need of financial assistance and/or whose identities are underrepresented in the community. Please note that all of our course offerings are designed for improvisers with some experience (at least 6 months regular practice). If you're a beginner, we recommend that you check out our friends at The Improv Embassy. If you’re new to us, a member of the WIT team may follow up with you to confirm your experience. You must be 18 years or older on the date of the first class — no exceptions. WIT reserves the right to cancel and refund course registrations if participants do not meet the age or experience requirements. If you’re not sure if you meet the requirements, please email classes@waywardimprov.ca to confirm before registering. Please read our cancellation policy prior to registering. Access notes This course will be held in the conference room (room B16) at Southminster United Church. This room is typically accessed by stairs, but a lift may be available with advance notice — please contact us before registering if this is required. Participants should wear clothes and shoes that are easy to move in, and bring a water bottle. There will be at least one 10-minute break near the midpoint of each class

Cancellation Policy
We understand that life happens and you may need to cancel a course registration. Here’s our cancellation and refund policy, based on when you notify us that you need to cancel: - At least 7 days prior to course start: Full refund of your payment, minus any processing fees. - Less than 7 days but more than 24 hours prior to the course start: You will be issued a credit voucher for the course fee to be used towards a future course. - Less than 24 hours before course start: No refund possible, except in extreme circumstances. We will honour registration transfers if you are able to find someone else to take your place in the course and notify us at least two hours prior to the course start time. If you registered for an access ticket, cancelling a course registration with less than 24 hours notice may result in future restrictions on booking access tickets.
